Global Business Company
(GBC)
Mauritius provides two offshore licences, the Global Business Licence (GB) and the Authorised Company Licence, for international investors. The Global Business (GB) licence is available for resident corporations conducting business outside Mauritius, while the Authorised Company Licence is for those conducting business principally outside Mauritius with central management and control outside Mauritius. The Financial Services Act (FSA) of 2007 simplifies the regulatory framework and consolidates the legislative framework of the global business sector, with the Financial Services Commissions (FSC) monitoring the conduct of business activities of its licensees to ensure Mauritius remains a credible jurisdiction for doing business. To apply for a Global Business Licence, a licensed Management Company approved by the FSC such as Anamax is required.
The main advantages of a global business are:
- Standard 15% tax rate
- Access to the Mauritian tax treaty network
- No capital gains tax
- No withholding tax on dividends, interest and royalties paid
- Foreign tax credit may be claimed on foreign sourced income
- No exchange control on repatriation of profit, capital or interest
- No estate duty or inheritance tax
